About Greenbelt Youth Ambassadors
EcoSpark's Greenbelt Youth Ambassadors are high school and university students living in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH). They care about the health of the local environment and the impacts humans and human activities can have on it. Youth ambassadors are interested in exploring and learning about the history of the Greenbelt and urban development in the GGH. They want to develop a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between development, agriculture, and the protection of the natural environment around them. Youth Ambassadors are also looking for opportunities to develop and practice the skills needed to become local environmental advocates. They want to understand and participate in the political processes, and they want a voice in determining how to reduce the impacts population growth in GTA will have on future generations.
Greenbelt Youth Ambassador Team Leaders are university students who will work with EcoSpark staff and advisors, to support Youth Ambassadors. They attend training workshops to develop their skills in leadership and mentoring, communications, and event planning and organizing. They take on roles leading groups of fellow Youth Ambassadors, while focusing on specific geographic and/or topic areas.
