Marvellous Moraine

The Oak Ridges Moraine, a 160-kilometre-long landform that stretches from Caledon and the Niagara Escarpment in the west to the Trent River in the east, is one of Ontario’s most precious ecological features. The moraine provides a multitude of benefits at no cost, including drinking water for more than 250,000 people, flood control, climate regulation and recreation. It is the starting point for more than 65 rivers and streams, and habitat for the highest diversity of wildlife in the GTA.

Discover the beauty and importance of the Oak Ridges Moraine at marvellousmoraine.ca. Developed by the Oak Ridges Moraine Partnership, this website is your doorway into moraine history, culture and ecology.  Sign-up for the Marvellous Moraine campaign to get updates and to be the first to learn about events, contests and review announcements.

Oak Ridges Moraine Partnership

The Oak Ridges Moraine Partnership promotes appreciation of the Oak Ridges Moraine and civic engagement in the government review of the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan. This partnership, consisting of four committed organizations – EcoSpark, Earthroots, Ontario Nature and STORM coalition, has been preparing for the plan review for many years by monitoring issues that threaten the hydrological and ecological integrity of the moraine, and encouraging civic engagement in moraine protection.

Partnership groups have been and continue to remain actively involved in the review process to ensure the protection of the moraine for generations to come.
